My presidential year was 2009-2010. Yes, the oldest President is still a member. When I became President of NOSA, I was told “whatever you do, don’t change anything.” Well, that statement is unavoidable. Changes happen due to board and membership likes and dislikes and unexpected situations.
My year there was a bank and housing crisis. Slowing moves to San Antonio almost to a halt. We held steady though with a membership of around 250. As a board decision, the vendor’s luncheon was changed to a silent auction that raised money for our charities. Socials director was a board position. One social that was a huge success was going to a San Antonio Stars women’s basketball game.
Overall, one cannot change the lasting friendships and memories made during my presidential year.
As a club, we stayed true to our motto “Bloom where you are planted”.
