Newcomers of San Antonio has monthly luncheons, coffee hours, plus over 30 interest groups for the members! This is a great way to meet other members and have fun in an interest or activity of your choosing. A sample of the calendar is available here.

Monthly Coffees Coffees are held on the third Thursday of every month at a member’s home. Coffees are open to all members and new arrivals. It is also an opportunity to obtain information on interest groups. Please email or call for information concerning our next coffee. Reservations are not required for visitors but we'd like our members to register so we can plan accordingly. We look forward to meeting you! Luncheons Luncheons are the first Thursday of every month at different San Antonio restaurants. Luncheons are open to members and new arrivals with pre-paid reservations. . Fashion Show Don't miss the Newcomers of San Antonio's Annual Fashion Show. This event is not to be missed! Cruises Join Newcomers of San Antonio on a cruise! Next trip will be to Greece in May 2024. Eat, Drink and Socialize! Girlfriends Treat yourself to a midweek happy hour once a month with some new and old girlfriends. Join us for happy hour as we socialize at local restaurants while enjoying cocktails and appetizers. Lunch Bunch Lunch Bunch is an interest group that meets once a month for lunch and shopping in the vicinity. We will go to all parts of town, all types of restaurants, and even will venture to some of the surrounding areas. Usually we will have an 18- 20 person capacity. Dinner with Friends Join us for small dinner with friends. The group typically consists of 8 people (couples and singles). Groups can meet at homes or restaurants. West End Activities Want to do activities mainly on the Far West Side of San Antonio? There will be lunches, games and road trips planned. Wine and Spirits Tasting Each month we showcase a wine or a particular spirit with appetizers to complement the evening’s offerings. This is a great opportunity for spouses or guests to join us! Our goals are simple: sample, learn, enjoy and socialize. Enjoying Movement Birding Are you interested in locating and identifying birds? Join other Newcomers at birding hotspots in the San Antonio area. Any experience level welcome. Golf Join us for a fun game of golf at one of our many public and semi-private courses. We play both 9 and 18 holes. The group plays two times a month. Happy Trails Hiking Happy trails is for those who like to go hiking. We will take mostly paved hiking trails in and around the San Antonio area. We pack a lunch to enjoy after the hike. Line Dancing Come and learn how to Line Dance! Lessons are taught by a line dance instructor for a small fee.. Picadillies Pickleball Picadillies is for those who are interested in Pickleball. Pickleball is a paddle sport very similar to tennis. If you have never played before or if you are a seasoned player come join us! Community Involvement Community Involvement Community Involvement activities in 2023 will include informative tours at various agencies such as the San Antonio Food Bank and Haven for Hope, volunteering our time at various agencies such as Soldiers’ Angels, and special clothing and/or food drives. Helping Hands Our mission is to provide support for members and their families in times of illness or other life-changing experiences. This group will come alongside members that are going through a difficult time by sending cards, preparing meals, running errands, or even just visiting to pass the time when someone is in need. Mobile Loaves and Fishes Mobile Loaves and Fishes is a volunteer activity in which we assist with the preparation of food for the homeless. In partnership with the outreach ministry of St. Francis of Assisi Church, we make 125 lunches which are then distributed to our homeless brothers and sisters in need. | Bridge Party Bridge for beginners and learners. Brush up you bridge skills with this teaching class. Bunco We have 4 different Bunco groups: Bunco Babes/Bunco Dicey Ladies, Bunco Queen B's, Bunco Buddies (for couples), Bunco -West Side Activities and Pop Up Bunco. Canasta (Hand and Foot) What is Canasta? Hand and Foot is a North American game related to Canasta, in which each player is dealt two sets of cards – the hand, which is played first, and the foot, which is played when the hand has been used up. There are as many variations of this game as there are groups and house rules that apply. Euchre I and Euchre II These two groups meet on the first two Friday evenings. Fun & Games Let’s have some fun and play some games! Join this great group and play some old favorites or learn to play a new game. Board games could include, Skip-bo, Phase 10, No Peek, Spinner, Rummy Q, Sequence and Mexican Train Game. Also, some fun card games like; 5 Crown, Face 10, Polish poker, and many others. Game Night Gamers at Heart – If you enjoy just hanging out on a Friday night and playing games with other like-minded people, sign up to join us! Singles and couples welcome, limited to 20 people. We play board games, card games and group party games. Every month it’s something different. Mahjong Mondays & Mahjong Wednesdays Similar to the Western card game rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. The game is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. This group is dedicated to the sport of this ancient tile game. There is a little luck and a little defense involved, all of which make this game fun and exciting. Shared Interests & Learning Blooms and Brunch Blooms and Brunch is an Interest Group that focuses on garden-related activities. We will cover a variety of topics based on members’ interests, including growing flowers (roses, orchids, annuals, etc.), herbs, and vegetables. We will also explore nurseries in and around San Antonio, tour gardens, and learn from speakers that are experts in their fields on topics of interest and learning from our members. Book Talk This book group reads contemporary fiction and nonfiction books. Each month, one of our members hosts the group in their home. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of the month. Bookies This book group reads contemporary fiction and nonfiction books. Each month, one of our members hosts the group in their home. Meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Chicks & Flicks Chicks and Flicks meet once a month to enjoy and discuss films. Following the movie, the group will attend a restaurant for a lunch. Cookbook Club We will cook from a specific cookbook each gathering. You will be provided the recipes to choose; prepare them at home, and bring them to the gathering. Creative Adventures with Barbara If you enjoy making crafts or want to learn, please join us! Every month we’ll create something different with a big emphasis on paper crafts. Gems & Stems Have fun learning how to make beaded and jewelry pieces. You will learn how to make jewelry repairs too. History Buffs History Buffs (formerly known as Genealogy Gals) is a group for those who love history—both their own family history and/or the history of San Antonio and the surrounding area. Curious about your genealogy? You can get started learning how to research, or collaborate on what you already know. We will occasionally attend classes at the San Antonio Genealogy Library. We’ll take field trips and tours around San Antonio and the surrounding area to learn about the history and culture. Knit and Crochet Fun All are welcome, whether you want to learn to knit or crochet, or if you are experienced, and every level in between! Music aLive! Let’s Go Hear Live Music Together! San Antonio radiates with excellent live music throughout the city and area! Let’s Go & Hear It! On the Road Again Explore the sights around San Antonio & sometimes a little further away. We frequently carpool, so it’s a great way to meet and get to know new friends. Monthly adventures are announced in the Newsletter with sign-up information. Painting with Pam Come join this Fun, Free-spirited paint group! No judgement zone- ALL levels welcome! This class is for all members who want to paint with friends and learn from each other. Taste the World Cooking Class Join us in sampling the flavors and exotic tastes of cuisine from around the world. We will feature dishes that are simple and easy to prepare with a healthy spin to them. Our goal is to teach techniques to improve cooking skills and to make the class as hands-on as possible.
